Tendre Madeleine

I have some of Ava Luxe’s lauded but discontinued Madeleine fragrance, and I’m not sure that I don’t like this better. At first encounter this is much more like biting into the actual cookie: buttery, vanilla, sweet, lemony, light, and a much welcome antidote to the cold rainy day outside.

The madeleine cookie is supposed to have been what prompted the musings of Proust’s narrator in his long volumes of “In Search of Lost Time”. A good perfume based on the madeleine should also inspire a longing for memory, for golden light gone by and past pleasures which it is now a pleasure to recall. This Tendre Madeleine, by Laurence Dumont, fits that bill.
